Anger
Resentment kills a fool, and envy slays the simple. |
Who saves me from my enemies. You exalted me above my foes;
from violent men you rescued me. |
God sets the lonely in families, he leads forth the prisoners with singing; but the rebellious live in a sun-scorched land. |
Better a patient man than a warrior, a man who controls his temper than one who takes a city. |
A man's wisdom gives him patience; it is to his glory to overlook an offense. |
Better to live in a desert than with a quarrelsome and ill-tempered wife. |
Like a city whose walls are broken down is a man who lacks self-control. |
An angry man stirs up dissension, and a hot-tempered one commits many sins. A man's pride brings him low, but a man of lowly spirit gains honor. |
The end of a matter is better than its beginning, and patience is better than pride. Do not be quickly provoked in your spirit, for anger resides in the lap of fools. |
In your anger do not sin. Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry,and do not give the devil a foothold. |
Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you. |
My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, for man's anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires. |
